DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

"They do?"  Shuni looked surprised at that.  "Like hamburgers?  I know they come from cows.  The Shadow told me so."

"Well, yeah, but who's the Shadow?" Sam asked.

"The Shadow, he has a name, but I don't know what it is," Shuni said, sitting on the floor.  "He is the leader of a gang.  He owns the streets to the west.  Everyone does what he says."

"Why is he called 'the Shadow'?" Sam asked curiously.

"Because no one sees him unless he wants people to see him.  He lurks in the shadows and sees everything," Shuni said soberly.

Sam inched closer, amazed and perplexed now. "What is he?"

"Mean," Shuni said softly.  "I don't know if he is a human person or something else, but if you cross him, he is nasty mean.  But fair.  He makes the streets run right."

Sam was very, very curious now. He was curious enough he even wanted to meet this Mr. Shadow. "How do I find him?" He asked Shuni.

Shuni's eye went huge.  "You do not find the Shadow!  Never finding the Shadow!  Shadow finds you when he wants to."

Sam nodded. "Okay." He looked down and stopped asking questions. He would try to find this Shadow. He didn't know why, but his curiosity was drawing Sam to this Shadow like a moth to a flame...

Shuni relaxed a little when Sam stopped pressing.  "I do not know where to find him, anyway.  I didn't see him much.  You sound better.  DO you want anything?"

Sam nodded. "Yeah, I am actually." He smiled at Shuni. Sam knew what he was doing tomorrow. He was going hunting for Shadow.

Shuni scrambled to his feet.  "I need to go feed kitties.  Do you want me to get you anything?"

Sam shook his head. "No thank you. I'm going to get out of bed soon anyway."

"Okay!  You can feed your kitty.  Did you give him a name?" Shuni asked, moving toward the door.

Sam nodded and followed Shuni. "Yup. His name is Lynx. Like the big cat that lives in some wild areas."

"Oh!  Nice name," Shuni smiled.  He scampered out to feed his flock of cats.

(Flock?  Pride?  Herd?)

Sam smiled and got food for Lynx. He watched him eat as Sam thought about how to go about finding this Shadow person.

Lynx crouched over the food bowl, purring happily as he ate.  Finished, he started rubbing up Sam's legs then batted at his toes.  He wanted to play now!

Sam laughed and played with his cat. He liked Lynx a lot. The curly haired cat was soft.

The cat chased Sam's feet wherever he walked, batting at him without claws.  Fun!

Shuni brought Sam a small stick with a string and a little ball of fluff on the end.  "Here.  This is better."

Sam accepted the toy with a smile and played with Lynx with it.

Gaster returned with a bag with the steaks. He heated up a pan and prepared the steaks.

Lynx was only too happy to play, chasing Sam wherever he went.

Shuni smelled cooking and came to find what Gaster was doing.  "Steaks are not wooden," he announced.

Gaster chuckled. "Steaks for eating aren't, yes." He started to cook the steaks before he took out some potatoes that were precooked, and just needed heated and smashed and seasoned.

Shuni watched Gaster's every move, following him around the kitchen and helping where he could.  Mostly, he kept the cats out of the way.
