DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

Chris smiled at Layla.  "Thank you, beautiful lass.  This is most appreciated."

Layla raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh." She said, pretending to be unimpressed. "Dig in boys. Sadly, I am grounded from making desserts for now, so what you see is what you get."

"Why would you be grounded from deserts?" Chris asked, curious.

"I make them almost daily." Layla explained. "So True grounded me from making them until we go to the store again."

"That seems fair," Chris smirked.  He risked sipping the broth slowly.

Layla sighed. "It's a tragedy. My man likes the sweets I make, but True thinks I am drowning everyone in them."

"I have never really been that fond of sweets.  Unless it's honey."  Chris brightened at the thought of honey.  "I like honey.  And tea."

"We might have those..." Layla said before she went to rummage around in the kitchen for tea or honey. Ashton watched the two of them as he ate quietly.

Chris glanced at Ashton.  "Can I try a bite of your bacon?"

Ashton hesitated. "I don't want you to get sick..." He admitted warily.

"I'll be okay," Chris assured him with a winning smile.

Ashton caved and let Chris have a bite, although he remained wary.

Chris chewed the piece thoughtfully.  "Not the worst thing I've ever tried.  Not the greatest, either."

Ashton smiled a little. He didn't say anything, but internally deeply appreciated Chris's acceptance of his.... eating quirks.

Chris didn't try any more than a bite, moving back to his soup.  He finished drinking the broth then just sat there staring out the window.

Ashton slowly finished his own food and took the dishes to the sink to clean when they were both done. Layla found a honey bear and chuckled triumphantly.

Chris looked at her, hearing the chuckle.  "What was that?"

"I found honey!" Layla said, proudly showing him the small bottle.

Chris' expression visibly brightened, like a dawning of a new morning.  "You have honey?" he breathed, staring at Layla in awe.

Layla nodded and brought the bottle over. "If you want, I can make toast so you can have some." She offered. "Or I'll just hand you a spoon."

"I can have a spoonful?" Chris whispered.  He looked like he was about ready to cry from happiness.

Layla nodded and handed Chris the honey bear and a spoon. "Have at it."

Chriss accepted then put them down briefly.  He took Layla's hands and drew her close to kiss her cheek.  "Lovely Layla, I love you."
Of course Lex walked in right then.  He cleared his throat, glaring at the pair.  He figured it was innocent fun, but he had a reputation to uphold.

Layla didn't seem to like that game and jerked away from Chris. "Sorry, but I am a one man woman now, and you are sadly not him."
Ashton saw it too, but kept his face unreadable.

Chris wrinkled his nose as he turned his attention back to the honey.  "You are a lot less fun since you got hitched."  He smiled at the honey and poured some into the spoon, checked out of other reality.
"Ashton, have a talk with your tramp about having fun with someone else's girl," Lex growled, taking Layla's hand and drawing her away.
