DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

Gaster nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Now keep doing it. What this will do is help build control and start rebuilding muscle."

"I made it move!" True almost squealed in excitement.  "I made my leg move!"

Gaster chuckled a little, glad True seemed so happy. "Now, prove to me it wasn't an accident, and do it again." He would push True, but he wouldn't push him farther than he believed his son could go.

True nodded and tried again.  It took a bit, but again the muscle twitched sporadically.

Gaster again gave encouragement, and told him to repeat it. Kat showed up after a bit, after delivering a duffle bag of clothes she never wore anymore to Lex for Layla.

True was already panting and tired but determined to keep going.  He grinned ecstatically up at Kat.  "I can move my leg!  Kind of.  I can move two muscles!"

Kat smiled. "That's awesome! Show me?" She sat near True to watch.

True nodded and focused on his legs.  In the right leg, his calf twitched.  In the left, the quad jumped as though shocked.

Kat smiled. "That's so cool!" She kissed True's cheek, she was so proud and happy of his achievements.

True laughed and grabbed her impulsively in a tight hug.  "I can do this!  I can really do this!"

Kat smiled and hugged him back. "I never doubted you." She said truthfully. Gaster stood. "Keep up the tensing, True. I need to go do some things, but I expect progress when I return."

"Sir, yes, sir!" True said cheerfully.  "Kat will make sure I do."  He kissed her cheek happily then turned back to his leg.

Gaster nodded and left them. He went to his office and worked on the day's work.

Kat smiled and encouraged . She felt happy and proud for him, and did her best to show and express it without being obnoxious about it.

True worked hard, driven by Kat's help.  It didn't look like much, just weird twitches, but for someone who hadn't been able to move his legs at all for years, it was better than anything he'd ever done in his life!

And Kat was so glad True was happy. She loved him no matter what, but knew that this was a huge deal to him, and so she felt even happier for her boyfriend.

Lex wandered out of his room and looked toward the couch.  "Layla?"

Layla looked up at him. She was starting to shake a little from the start of withdrawal. "Yeah?"

"Let's go downstairs, take a look at what's on TV," Lex said, jerking his head toward the stairs.

Layla nodded a little and got up to follow him. She kept ahold of Hugs the cat still. The cat did make her feel a little better.

Hugs dangled from her arms, still purring away in a constant vibration.  He wasn't going anywhere.
Lex turned on the tube and dropped onto one end of the couch, leaving plenty of room for Layla.  "What sounds good?  We've got animal planet, cartoons, documentaries..."

Layla sat on the couch. "I don't care. Just nothing with a lot of gore is all I ask." She continued to pet Hugs with a slightly shaky hand.

"Cartoons it is."  Lex clicked on a cartoon channel and pulled up Mickey Mouse.
Hugs head butted her gently and snuggled up.

Layla watched for a bit. Her shaking was getting a little worse, and as time progressed, she seemed more and more restless.

Lex kept an eye on her, waiting.  Once she got to the point where she couldn't sit anymore, he stood and held out a hand.  "Let's walk."

Layla looked up at Lex a moment before going his hand and standing, still shaking and holding onto Hugs.
