DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

Shuni looked at him curiously then laid down next to him.  "What are you looking at?"

"The sky." Ashton answered. "The clouds. The branches. I don't know why. There's just something a little peaceful about it. That, and it makes you feel a bit smaller."

"I always feel small," Shuni said, snuggling up to Ashton's side.  He stared upward at the sky.  "I never watched the clouds before."

Primus jolted suddenly and let out a strangled cry of pain.

"It can be relaxing." Ashton repeated. "What shapes do you see in the clouds?" He asked his brother.

Gaster was right there, and gently tried to shush and calm Primus down. "Shhh.... what is it, Primus?"

Shuni frowned and squinted.  "Fluffy?  Is that a shape?"

Primus put his hands over his ears and curled up tighter, whimpering as tears escaped his eyes.  Never had it been this bad!  Usually this worked.  A bit of something to take the edge off then a nap, but it came back!  Did it even leave?  His head was going to explode!!

Ashton laughed. "I suppose if you want it to be."

Gaster got up and returned with the straight tranquilizer and a needle. He knew Primus wouldn't approve normally, but this was an abnormal circumstance, and one Gaster felt would be better to ask forgiveness than permission. He readied the syringe with the undiluted tranq before he ejected it into Primus, and waited for it to work. He gently rubbed Primus's while he waited.

"I don't understand shapes in clouds," Shuni admitted.  "Will you tell me?"

Primus jerked and gasped, every muscle tense.  Then, slowly, painfully slowly, the tension eased from his body until he lay limp and passed out.

"You use your imagination to make them look like shapes." Ashton explained. He pointed to one. "Like see? That one is a cat with a fluffy tail."

Gaster sighed softly. Already a third of the big livestock tranquilizer was gone. he probably could slip another container without causing suspicion, but after that, at this rate, that was it. he continued to gently rub Primus's back, and set the empty syringe and the tranq on his bedside table.

"Maybe?" Shuni said, tipping his head as he studied the cloud.  "Oh!  There it is!  I see the tail."

Primus was out of it for a couple of hours.

Ashton smiled. "All right. That's what you do, okay? Use your imagination to make the clouds into shapes and things."

Gaster remained there at Primus's side, and rubbed his back the whole time. Gaster was mostly thinking the whole time, but a couple of times checked to make sure the undiluted tranquilizer hadn't effected Primus's heartbeat or breathing.

Shuni hesitated then pointed up.  "That one looks like.... A pizza!"

Ashton looked where Shuni pointed. "Yeah, it does." He encouraged. "And that one looks like a dragon head." He said as he pointed to a different cloud.

"What's a dragon's head?" Shuni asked curiously.

"A dragon is a mythical creature. It's from stories." Ashton explained. "It could look like several different types, but the most common were a giant, fire breathing lizard with bat wings, or more of a long serpent with a horse head that could fly with magic."

Shuni lifted himself up enough to look at Ashton quizzically.  "Are you pulling my leg?"

Ashton shook his head. "I have figurines of them at home." He said truthfully.

Shuni sat up eagerly.  "Can I see them?  Please?  I've never heard of a dragon before!"

"When we get home, sure." Ashton said. "There's other mythical beasts I can tell you about too."

"What does mythical mean?" Shuni asked.  "Can we go home now and see them?  Please?"  It was more than just the desire to learn more, though that was genuine.  Shuni had spotted a couple of guys in the shadows across the park from them.  He hid this fear from Ashton, knowing his brother would want to protect them.

Ashton nodded and stood, stretching. "Of course. Mythical is another way of saying made up. They come from really old stories. I can read you some of them sometime if you want."

"Would you please?" Shuni asked, bouncing around Ashton as he stood.  "Yes yes yes yes yes!  Thank you!"

Ashton smiled and led the way out of the park, avoiding the shading characters lurking in the trees. He knew they were there, but didn't want to cause a scene if there needn't be one in front of Shuni.

(Snickering about shading characters)

Shuni smiled and impulsively took Ashton's hand.  "You're a good brother, Ashton."

Primus began to stir, moaning quietly.

Ashton smiled a little, but it meant a lot to hear Shuni say that. "Thanks, Shu."

Gaster was still there, and still was rubbing Primus's back soothingly. He watched the lad, and hoped his headache was gone. He didn't dare speak yet until he got a better idea on Primus's state of being.

"I'm not a shoe.  A shoe is something you wear on your feet," Shuni snickered.

Primus took a deep, shuddering breath and cautiously opened his eyes.  He focused on Gaster and squinted a little.  "You're still here, Doc?" he rasped.
