DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

"You made me something?" Primus asked, surprised.  "Um, cool.  I'll see it when we get home."  He turned and started walking home, going slower than usual for Shuni's sake.
Shuni was currently holding Ashton's hand in a grip that said it would take a direct act from Ash to make him let go.

Paul smiled happily at Primus and nodded. "Uh huh! I thought about doing another thing for True, but I thought you might like something too!"

Ashton didn't mind. He kept half an eye on Shuni though, and made sure he didn't seem like it was too much pain to walk, or that his limp wasn't getting worse.

"That's... thanks," Primus said a touch awkwardly.  He wasn't sure how to accept this.  "How was school?"

Shuni was doing fine, just going slow and careful.  He still felt nervous and jumpy, but safe with Ashton.

"It was great!" Paul said excitedly. "I got an A- on my math test even!"

After a while, Ashton picked Shuni up and let him ride on Ashton's shoulders.

"Not bad, half pint.  Pretty soon, you'll be teaching the teacher," Primus said, offering his hand in a high five.

Shuni gasped in surprise then smiled and relaxed.  "Wow.  So this is what it's like to be tall!"

Paul smiled and fived Primus, proud of himself. "Thank you for showing me how to do math easily!"

Ashton laughed. "Is the view better from up there?"

"Thank you for being smart enough to listen," Primus smirked at him. 

"Much better!" Shuni said decisively.

Paul smiled and giggled. He chattered to Primus all the way home.

Ashton laughed. "Good. Wouldn't want you stuck with a bad view!"

"He is going to have to come down to fit through the door," Primus pointed out when they reached the house.
Shuni sighed but hugged Ashton's head happily.  "Thank you!"

Ashton laughed. "No problem, Shu." He said as he crouched down and took Shuni off his shoulders.

Paul ran inside and plopped his bag down. He dug through it until he pulled out a painting on a little canvas. It was a pretty dang good wolf, and even more impressive that a first grader painted that. "Here you go!" Paul said happily. "I was thinking, and you remind me a bit like a wolf dog!"

Primus accepted the painting and studied it curiously.  "This is a fu... fantastic wolf.  Why do I remind you of a wolf?"
Shuni went inside and went to the kitchen to decide what to do for dinner.

"Because you growl a lot and are strong and fast and look after us." Paul explained. "Like a wolf dog!"

Ashton looked at the painting over Primus's shoulder and gave a low whistle. "You did that, shortstack?"

Paul nodded proudly, beaming.

Primus opened then closed his mouth.  "Thank you," he finally said.  "No one's ever given me something like this."

"I can make you more pictures if you want." Paul offered.

Primus actually smiled and ruffled Paul's hair.  "Only if you have the urge.  Why don't you get started on homework while I put this somewhere nice?  Ashton, you're on kitchen duty with Shuni."

Paul smiled happily and readily agreed. he got his homework out and sat at the kitchen table to work on it.

Ashton nodded and went to the kitchen. "What's on the menu tonight, Chef Shuni?"

"Cheesy bacon potatoes, brown sugar glazed ham, and honey glazed carrots!" Shuni said happily.  "I like glazes."

Ashton laughed. "Not a bad thing. Want me to help? I'll chop the carrots."

Shuni shook his head.  "I need potatoes chopped.  I'm going to steam baby carrots."  He set to work happily, getting out bacon to fry but leaving some uncooked for Ashton.

Ashton nodded and got a knife out. "Diced or sliced?" He asked as he washed the potatoes.

"Chopped," Shuni shrugged.  "They get boiled up then mashed up."

Ashton nodded and diced them. The potatoes would cook faster, and make hem a little easier to mash. He scraped the potatoes in a pot of water and set it to boil on the stove. "What's next?"

"Will you get me that?" Shuni asked, pointing to the out of reach pan he needed to cook the ham on.

Ashton nodded and got the pan down. "Anything else, Master Chef?"

Shuni shook his head.  "This is good.  Now all we need is time."
