Dragon Rider Play

Jeremiah stood firm. "Our team is already scoffed at and ridiculed by the others. You don't need to give them more reasons to mock us. Do you understand?"

Nightshade buried her face in the crook of Pat's arm, like a frightened cat would.

Erika whimpered and shuffled her wings.  Yes, she understood.  She hadn't meant to.

Pat held her close, watching Jeremiah.

"Now, go and apologize to Nightshade." Jeremiah told Erika.

Nightshade felt sore, and just wanted to stay with Pat now all day.

Erika turned and slunk toward Nightshade.  She looked at Nightshade and whined.  She was sorry.  She didn't know what had happened.

Nightshade snuggled closer to Pat, and a little farther from Erika. The feathered dragon would be slow to forgive this one....

Erika turned and went to her stall, curling up in the corner.  She tucked her head under her wing and coiled her tail around herself miserably.

"What happened?" Pat asked, trying to sooth Nightshade.  "I don't understand.  Erika has never lashed out like that before."

Jeremiah sighed and shook his head. "I don't know."

Nightshade whined and explained that Erika tried to open everyone's stalls, and she said no, but Erika ignored her, so she swatted at Erika and then they fought.

Pat repeated Nightshade's story to Jeremiah then suggested, "Maybe she felt insulted?  Like Nightshade shouldn't be telling her what to do?"

"Still gives her no reason to try and kill Nightshade!" Jeremiah pointed out.

"I agree!" Pat said, scowling at Erika.  She hugged Nightshade, kissing the top of her head.  "I'm sorry, Nightshade.

Jeremiah shook his head. "I'm going to go talk to Tithenor." He said. He needed the elf's input on how he should handle this one.

"That would be good," Pat said.  "Until then, I think you need to keep an eye on Erika.  I'm going to take Nightshade and get to class early."

Jeremiah nodded. "Erika, come. We are going to see Tithenor before class."

Erika whined, not moving from her curled up position.  She didn't want to go.  Please let her stay.

Pat picked up Nightshade and walked out.

"Erika." Jeremiah said firmly. "It wasn't a if you want to. It's a 'we're going.' If you're going to keep this up, I will carry you in a way that will let everyone know how upset I am."

Erika slowly uncurled herself and started walking toward the door, waiting for Jeremiah to lead the way.  Very well, she would walk.  Bu her dropping wings and shuddering spines made it clear She wasn't happy.

Jeremiah led the way to the medical ward. He was still mad, but wanted Tithenor's guidance on what to do.

Erika followed meekly.  She didn't know why she'd hurt Pat.  She just had.

Tithenor was sitting up writing in his journal.

Jeremiah went back to Tithenor. "Toriaun? /May I ask you something please?/"

Tithenor looked up and closed his book.  "/Are you alright, honeg?  You may ask me anything./"

Jeremiah explained in Elvish what Erika did, and if he had any advice on what he should do.

Tithenor's frown deepened through Jeremiah's tale.  "/This is not a good thing, honeg.  I do not know what to do in this case.  I would take it to one of the professors.  Perhaps Krudd?/"

Jeremiah thought. "/Krudd seems to deal with unruly dragons a lot, and I find it easier to talk to him than the other professors.../"

Tithenor nodded.  "/I hope he will be able to help.  I am sorry, Jeremiah."

Jeremiah sighed and nodded. "Come, Erika. We must see Professor Krudd now." He stood to go. "/Thank you, toriaun./"
