Dragon Rider Play

Nightshade purred and happily snuggled with Pat.

Jeremiah Sat on the chair with Erika in his lap. "Well, the team's all here..." He commented.

"Not an ideal place for a meeting, but together is better than apart," Tithenor agreed.

Jeremiah nodded in agreement.

Luke frowned as he woke, but the groan soon turned into a whimper of pain.

Warrior whimpered as he clambered up onto the bed and stretched out next to him. He was here. He'd take care of poor rider.

"I hurrrrr..." Luke complained. He'd never been in this much pain before. What happened? He remembered feeling his hair stand up, then a flash of light..... Then nothing.

"53!" Jeremiah called. "Luke's awake!"

53 raced into the room and went to Luke. "Easy, don't strain. Your body went through quite a beating.". He checked Luke's vitals, pleased, but unfortunately the fact that he'd bitten his tongue so hard had caused it to swell. That wasn't going to be fun for him.

"Wha haa-en?" Luke asked. He tried to inquire about what happened, but his swollen tongue made it hard. He hurt all over, and bad.

Warrior whined and nestled up to his ride, trying to ease some of the pain.
"You, my dear boy, are a lucky survivor of a lightning strike," 53 told him calmly, peering inside his mouth.  "Try not to talk.  Your tongue will heal that much faster.  You have a burn on the top of your head like a bad sunburn and a tiny but worse burn on the bottom of your foot.  Other than that, you came out of that remarkably well."

Luke just whimpered. He didn't feel lucky, but having Warrior near helped a little.

"What can we do?" Pat asked.
"This will help numb the pain, but the only thing we can do is wait with him," 53 replied.  "He should feel fine by tomorrow except very stiff."  He helped Luke drink a concoction and set it aside.  "There.  You'll be alright."

Luke looked a lot younger and smaller than normal because he was in pain and hardly moving.

Jeremiah sighed. "53? How much longer do you think Tithenor will be in here for?"

The healer paused, glancing over.  "Two days.  Then he may go.  He will be on light duty for a while, but he need not be flat on his back any longer.  Whatever that concoction was certainly helped."

Warrior remained next to Luke, his wings partially enfolding him.

Luke gave 53 the tiniest of nods.

Jeremiah nodded too. "THEN we can kick butt as a proper four man team."

"Indeed.  Very carefully so.  I am getting to know all of you a little too well," 53 said dryly.  "Luke, do you need anything?"

Luke shook his head a little bit. It hurt to move a lot right now.

Jeremiah smiled. "Well, someone's gotta keep you company, 53, so why not us?"

"If you need anything, tell Warrior.  He can let Needle know," 53 said then turned to Jeremiah.  "I have plenty of company, thank you, Jeremiah."

Jeremiah shrugged. "Well, if you ever want to hang out outside of here, I think you seem pretty cool."

"Thank you," 53 said with a faint smile.  "Now I have work to do.  I'll be available if you need me."

"Thank you, 53," Pat called after him.

Jeremiah nodded and thanked 53 as well as he left. He then sighed. "So it's a stay inside day?" He asked no one in particular.

"Yes, indeed.  How terrible for you," Tithenor said in a droll tone.

Pat giggled.  "Well, if you wanted to risk it, you could go to the forge and play with all that shiny mettal during the lightening storm."

Erika perked up.  Shiny?

Jeremiah rolled his eyes. "Ha ha." he said humorlessly. "I think 53 would hurt me if I went out and got struck by lightning too."

"53 would not hurt you," Tithenor assured him.

"Of course not!" Pat agreed, paused, then added, "he just wouldn't help you."

"That would be the same as hurting in my book." Jeremiah said, shifting uncomfortably. "I wouldn't even know what I'd want to make in the forge if I was there." He admitted.

"How about that flying contraption?" Pat suggested.

"Flying contraption?" Tithenor repeated curiously.

"Krudd's challenge yesterday was to come up with a way to get from island to island without using the bridges or the dragons." Jeremiah explained. "Luke came up with a detailed machine to fly from island to island instead, and even said it could carry dragons if need be as well as people."
