Dragon Rider Play

"That is very clever," Tithenor praised, glancing at Luke.  "You should build it, if you desire."

Luke smiled a little. Of course he wanted to! Just... not right now. He wanted to go to sleep, but he hurt too much right now.

Warrior lifted his head and started licking Luke's cheek gently, purring as he did so.  He wanted to take his rider's pain!

Luke winced a little at first, but was okay after a few seconds. He just wanted to be better.

Worrior stretched out beside Luke, placing his nose on Luke's shoulder.  He felt Luke's pain, and slowly, very slowly, he FELT the pain, taking some of into his own body.  Not a lot, but some.

Luke realized this and placed a hand on Warrior's head. No, Luke didn't want him to do that. Luke would be fine after a bit.

Warrior whined, drawing away, feeling dizzy and a little disoriented.  But.. but...

Erika raised her head and growled softly, her spines coming up slightly.

Luke still didn't want his dragon to be in pain. Besides, 53 said Luke would be better in a couple days anyway.

Warrior whined then sighed and put his head down.  Okay.  He wouldn't do it anymore.

Erika stopped growling as soon as Warrior stopped trying to take Luke's pain and her spines relaxed.

"What's wrong with Erika?" Pat asked.

Jeremiah frowned and stroked his dragon. "Yeah, what is it, Erika?"

Erika grumbled and stalked under Tithenor's bed.  Luke was giving Warrior pain, and Warrior wanted it!  She didn't like it.  Not one bit.

Jeremiah frowned. "Erika says Luke was giving Warrior pain, and Warrior wanted to take it?" He translated.

"Is that true?  Is that even possible?" Pat asked in surprise.

Jeremiah shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine."

"Fascinating.  I'm going to ask 53!"  Pat slid off the bed and hurried out.

"I believe we have our very own healer in our team," Tithenor said, amused as he watched Pat go.

Jeremiah shrugged. "We have Pat the healer, Tithenor the leader, me the blacksmith and weapons guy, and Luke the inventor and potential strategist. I like the sounds of that."

"We are a strong group," Tithenor agreed. He looked at Luke.  "All that is needed is to learn again to work as one."

Jeremiah nodded. "Yup. We need our leader to get better and lead us to victory once more." He grinned at Tithenor.

"I shall endevor to do my best not to disappoint," Tithenor agreed seriously.

"Nah, I know you won't." Jeremiah said with utmost confidence. "You'll exceed expectation as usual."

"I thank you for your belief in me," Tithenor smiled.

Pat skipped in just then.  "It's possible!"

"Huh." Jeremiah said. He looked at Pat in surprise and curiosity. "Wonder what the advantage of that would be."

"Rider and dragon can share pain, potentially giving the injured one the strength to get away," Pat told him.

Jeremiah considered. "I suppose..."

"Do you have a better idea?" Pat asked, sitting on the floor under the window, book in hand.
