Dragon Rider Play

"Hard, but I think I'm starting to get somewhere!" Luke said

"Do you want any pointers?" Pat asked, setting Jeremiah's food where he'd smell it.

"Yes please!" Luke said enthusiastically.

Jeremiah groaned and woke up enough to eat everything on the plate. Of course he wouldn't miss out on food.

Pat watched Jeremiah in amusement as she started giving Luke a few hints and tricks.

Jeremiah was still half asleep as he ate, but he polished off the whole plate.

Luke listened to Pat's every word and nodded avidly.

"And that's how to survive in this place!" Pat finished cheerfully.  Without asking, she handed Jeremiah the rest of her food.

Jeremiah of course accepted and ate the food.

Luke grinned brightly from ear to ear. "Okay! Thanks Pat! I should probably head to class now, shouldn't I?"

Pat nodded.  "Could you do me a favor and take our dishes back?  Thank you so much for bringing lunch!"

Luke nodded and gathered than all up. "Of course!" He scampered off to do that and then go to class.

"I hate it when even breathing hurts." Jeremiah murmured after Luke left. "And this is worse pain than just having cracked ribs."

Pat made sure Luke was gone and closed the door before sitting on the edge of Jeremiah's bed.  "I'm sorry, Jeremiah.  Can I do anything to help?"

"I think the only thing would be pain potion or for it to heal up." Jeremiah said. "And I don't know if I can have more potion yet or not."

Pat checked the vial and frowned.  "You drained it already?"

"Yeah..." jeremiah looked away from Pat guiltily. "I, uh, almost went to go find you myself, but 53 kind of said no as firmly as he could without smacking me for being a moron."

"I would have smacked you," Pat scowled, reaching out.  She almost touched hs face then dropped her hand, unsure of herself.

"Yeah, well, I am an idiot." Jeremiah sighed. "I've never been that smart or careful, especially when it came to my own well being."

Pat poked him in the nose.  "Well, you should be!  For the sake of your girlfriend."

Jeremiah stared at her a long moment. He tried to speak several times before he finally was able to for a single word. "Girlfriend?"

Pat blushed and ducked her head, looking at him shyly through her hair.  "Well, you did take my first kiss..."  Then more worried.  "Unless, you didn't mean for it to be that serious?"  Had she just made a huge mistake?

"No! No!" Jeremiah tried to hastily recover. "it's just... I've never had a.... girlfriend.... before...." His cheeks turned red.

Pat smiled weakly.  "I've never had a boyfriend before, so... Maybe we could be each other's firsts?"

Jeremiah gave Pat a small smile. "Okay. I, uh, hope I don't disappoint you."

Pat glanced at the door then down at their dragons.  "Lay in front of the door, please."
Erika churred and did as she was asked, stretching out in front of the closed door.  No one could open it without bumping into the dragon.
Pat kicked off her shoes and crawled onto the bed, stretching out on her side next to Jeremiah and hugging him gently.  "You won't," she whispered.

Nightshade chirped and curled up with Erika. Cuddle time?

Jeremiah smiled some. He still wasn't an overly touchy person, but he would make an exception for Pat. Her put his arm around her shoulders happily and kept her near.

Erika purred and cuddled up to Nightshade.  Apparently she was forgiven.  The Blade dragon sighed happily and started grooming her friend.

Pat smiled at Jeremiah and kissed his forehead, not daring enough to kiss his lips again.

Nightshade purred and groomed Erika back. Grooming friends was a good thing. It made them closer friends, yes? And it felt nice.

Jeremiah blushed a little, but was smiling just so happily. Pat made him very happy, and he liked that feeling a lot.
