Dragon Rider Play

Mellon whined. He wanted to stay with his rider. He promised to be good and quiet.

Blade nodded. His mind was working on something, but he needed some help achieving it. And he knew just who to ask, although the trick would be achieving it without causing too much suspicion...

"/Just for a little while,/" Tithenor soothed, urging him toward Blade.  "/Play with Erika./"

Yep, she was lost.  Lost lost lost.  Great.  She couldn't even storm off properly!  Pat sourly stumbled around the trees trying to figure out where the edges were so she could follow it to the bridge.  It was an island, for crying out loud!  And a small one at that!

Mellon looked down before half heartily asking Erika with a chirp if she wanted to play.

Nightshade was busy preening her feathers in a slightly vain attempt to get all the mud out from having been dropped in the mess.

Tithenor smiled, praising his dragon before slipping into the shadow.  This shouldn't take long.

Pat actually felt she was making some headway when she felt something drop onto her shoulder.  Glancing at her shoulder she let out a groan when she saw the white dropping.  Bird doo?  Really?
The girl was so distracted, she didn't even notice the hole until the ground disappeared under her feet.  She fell with a yell, rolling into a ball around Nightshade so she wouldn't get hurt as they fell.

Nightshade yelped in surprise. The dragon hadn't expected it and was startled and scared now.

Pat landed on her back and lay stunned, the air blasted from her lungs.  She lay for a moment, catching her breath, then sat up.  "Are you alright, Nightsahde?"

Nightshade whined and licked Pat's face. The dragon was fine, other than rattled. But she was more concerned for her rider. Was Pat okay?

"I'm okay, just a little bruised," Pat assured her.  She looked around at the pit.  It looked like a trap that had long since been forgotten.  She tried to shift her weight and hissed in pain.  She must have twisted her ankle in the fall.  Balancing on one leg, she tried to reach up.  Nope.  A good five feet short.  She couldn't even boost Nightshade out!
Groaning, she sat down and drew Nightshade into her lap.  "Now what?"

Nightshade didn't know. She whined. How long would they be trapped down here?

Pat just sighed and slumped down.  "I don't know, Nightshade.  Don't worry, we'll figure something out.  For now, I'm going to rest.  My ankle hurts.  I feel lie I was wearing my event shoes.  The kind with the high heels so I only wear them to events.  And then twist my ankle every time."

Nightshade whined softly and curled up with Pat. She supposed she would sleep too...

Tithenor returned with a brace of rabbits. He offered a couple to Blade. "Does Erika like rabbit?"

Blade looked at his dragon. "Hm. Do you like rabbit, Erika?" He asked.

Melloraumo squeaked happily and ran up to greet Tithenor as he returned, his whole body wiggling.

Erika chirped curiously. What was a rabbit? It smelled good.

Tithenor set the rabbits aside and knelt to scoop up his dragon. "/I told you I would be back soon, my little one. See? Here I am!/"

Blade pointed to Tithenor's kill. "Those are rabbits."

Mellon purred and licked Tithenor all over, and made his hair stick out at funny angles as a result.

Erika climbed out of her nest and scampered over to the rabbits and sniffed them all over.  She looked up at Blade and chirped approvingly.  Not dead enough, but once it was dead enough it would be delicious!

"Mellon!" Tithenor chuckled, trying to restrain the dragon but not having the heart to do so.
