Dragon Rider Play

Jeremiah smiled. "Well, keeping me company has already been a huge help." He said warmly.

Pat smiled faintly and took his hand.  "I thought you were keeping me company."

Jeremiah laughed a little. "Maybe we are keeping each other company." He offered.

"I suppose we are," Pat agreed.

Jeremiah smiled. A thought crossed his mind. "Hey Pat?"

"Yes?" Pat asked, looking at him quizzically.

"What are your plans after training is over?" Jeremiah asked. "I mean, what do you think will happen? Will we be mindless soldiers, or will we be able to just pick up jobs that need done?"

"According to Lucius, we all have to serve as soldiers for four years.  Then we are free to reenlist or go our separate ways," Pat said softly.  "Most reenlist, and the others usually go into private security."

Jeremiah sighed. "Maybe Alistair didn't have that bad of an idea..." He mused.

"Alistair?  What was his idea?" Pat asked, puzzled.

"Leaving when their dragons are big and strong enough to fly." Jeremiah explained. "They didn't feel cut out to be soldiers, and I'm not sure I am either, the more I think about it..."

"If they did that, they would be considered deserters and treasonous.  The other Riders, the gratuated ones, they'd hunt them," Pat said quietly.

Jeremiah sighed. "I just.... I don't know. I seriously don't think I'd be a good soldier is all."

"I don't think either of us will be," Pat admitted.

Jeremiah sighed. "Well, I'll try to do my best if you try to do yours. Deal?"

Pat took his hand and shook it.  "Deal!"

Jeremiah grinned at her. "I'm holding you to your word." He teased.

"And I to yours," she smiled then leaned over and kissed the back of his hand.  "There.  The promise is sealed."

Jeremiah blushed and repeated the gesture with Pat's hand. "Same."

Pat smiled, blushing brightly.  "Jeremiah, I have a question..."

Jeremiah looked at Pat curiously. "yeah? What is it?"

Pat looked down, blushing hotter.  "Please don't think ill of me, but I was wondering if, maybe, you and I could, perhaps sometime soon or in the future if you prefer, kiss again?"

Jeremiah blushed a bit, but also smiled. "Um, I'd like that, actually." He said quietly.

Pat looked at him shyly.  "Do you think we could do it now?" she nearly whispered.

Jeremiah blushed and nodded a little.
