Dragon Rider Play

Nightshade hissed at Pat. She wanted to sleep!

"Don't you hiss at me, young lady!" Pat scolded.  "You have one more chance.  You can walk there like a lady, or I will drag you like a tantruming child, your choice."

Nightshade huffed and turned away from Pat. No. She would stay here and sleep!

Pat sighed.  "I really don't want to do this, Nightshade, but you caused this."  She took Nightshade's wings so the weight would be balanced and not hurt the dragon then started walking.  Nightshade was dragged behind her along the grass.

Nightshade twisted and thrashed, which unintentionally pulled a muscle in one wing, and the feathered dragon yelped in pain.

Pat instantly stopped.  "Nightshade!"

The dragon whimpered a little, but Nightshade still wanted to just sleep. She was so tired!

"No sleeping," Pat said firmly.  "Up and walking."

Fine. Nightshade would just sleep at class.

"We'll start with that," Pat agreed.  "Now let's go."  She continued walking toward class.

Nightshade yawned the whole way.

Alterrion was not happy Pat and Jeremiah were late, but upon hearing that they had dragon troubles, he decided to let it slide. They weren't the only people having dragon problems. "Go spar with Eric and Alistair." he ordered them.

Jeremiah sighed and walked over to Alistair. "Yo, Alterrion instructed me to spar with you..."

"I know," Alistair said calmly.  "Shall we?"

Pat went to join Eric.

Jeremiah nodded. "Swords, daggers, both, or free for all?" He asked.

Alistair considered.  "I do not know about you, but I have not had a free for all in some time."

Jeremiah nodded. "So we are doing a free for all then. Any fighting style and any weapons we have are game."

Alistair started to say something then paused.  "Isn't that your dragon?"
Riders were turned to look as the medic dragon, Needles, whom none could remember seeing outdoors before, carried what looked like an oversized, spiny cat in his mouth toward Jeremiah.

Jeremiah groaned. "Thank you, Needle." He told the medic's dragon as he brought Erika over.

Needle set the curled up Blade Dragon at Jeremiah's feet and purred before turning to go back to his typical habitat.
Erika stayed where she'd been placed, curled up tight.  She was going to get yelled at again.  She just knew it!

Jeremiah sighed. "Erika, would you please wait off to the side until the end of class?" He asked calmly. "Or even found me after you're done shiny hunting?"

Erika uncurled and sulked away to hide in one of her many stash spots.  Fine.
"Trouble in paradise?" Alistair asked.

Jeremiah shrugged. "She's growing up some, and becoming a teenager. I think she will grow out of it. Now, shall we do this?" He asked, stretching a little.

"We shall," Alistair agreed.  He chose a short sword then attacked without warning.

Jeremiah blocked it with a quickly drawn knife in his off hand. He drew a shortsword in his other hand and swiftly attacked. His ADHD allowed Jeremiah to read Alistair's every move keenly, as well as notice everything that could try and attack him.

Alistair spun, parrying Jeremiah's attacks and fighting back furiously.  He was very good.

Jeremiah seemed to keep up easily, and made sure to keep Alistair busy as well. On top of using his sword and dagger, Jeremiah also utilized kicks and body movements to try and unbalance Alistair. In short, Jeremiah was a very up close and personal fighter, and a good one at that.
