Dragon Rider Play

Jeremiah nodded. "Okay. I'll yell if we need either of you here."

Pat nodded and hurried out, calling for Nightshade to come with her.

"Human nicknames puzzle me," Tithenor said.  "Why would one call a medic '53?'"

Jeremiah shrugged. "Don't know. Maybe we can ask him sometime."

Tithenor nodded and settled back.

(Unless you have something to do, we could scoot along to the next day.)

Luke woke the next day. He felt a lot better, except for his mouth, which still felt quite tender.

Warrior lay stretched out next to Luke on his back, snoring happily.

"How do you feel?" Tithenor asked from the other bed.

"Better." Luke croaked. "Mouth still hurts." He pet Warrior some before he slowly tried to sit up.

Warrior scrambled up and started trying to help, nuzzling him worriedly.
"Take your time, go slow," Tithenor urged.

Luke nodded and went slower. After a while, he was gingerly sitting.

Tithenor nodded. "Good. You will be fine."

Warrior invited himself to sit on Luke's lap and stared at him, nose to nose.

Luke smiled and pet him happily. He clearly loved the Frillback.

It was still raining, but only in spiteful spurts rather than outright torrents and the lightening was gone.  Pat woke up and gave Jeremiah a shake in passing before going to the rookery to take care of Nightshade.

Jeremiah groaned and woke up. "Wha...?" He saw it was day and stretched a bit before he started actually standing up.

Pat went into the rookery and fetched Nightshade's breakfast from the stash.  It was too muddy to go hunting if they didn't have to.  "Good morning, my lovely!"

Erika stood on the door to her stall, perched like a bird.

Nightshade purred and ate. After that, she groomed herself as normal.

Jeremiah walked into the rookery, yawning.

Erika gathered herself, her powerful hind legs getting a good grip as she got low, her wings spreading... Then she pounced, springing at Jeremiah.  "Rar!"  It was almost a roar.

Jeremiah yelped in surprise as Erika startled and unbalanced him. Jeremiah fell to the rookery floor with a thud, Erika pinning him.

Erika stood on his chest and threw out her wings in a triumphant pose.  "RAR!!"
Pat looked over the wall of Nightshade's stall.  "Good morning, Jeremiah.  Do you need a hand?"

Jeremiah smiled a little. "Yeah. I've aparantly been slain by a mighty Blade Dragon."

Nightshade looked over at Erika. Nice roar.

Erika arched her neck, preening.  She was proud of herself!
Pat laughed and came around to help remove Erika.  "Shame on you for allowing yourself to be surprised!

"Hey, I was still half asleep." He tried to say in defense. Jeremiah stood and nodded a thanks to Pat. "Well, I suppose I should feed you, right Erika?"

Erika chuffed and tried to flap her wings, but Pat was in the way with how she was holding the dragon.  Yes!  She was Hungry!

Jeremiah brushed himself off and looked for something nice and dead for Erika. He found a rabbit someone forgot about yesterday.

Erika pounced on the rabbit, growling nnd shaking it hard. Breakfast!

"Someone certainly iis hungry," Pat remarked, stroking Nightshade.

Jeremiah laughed. "Guess so. I'd hate to be the poor sap who gets between her and her food."

Nightshade purred at Pat's touch. The dragon was groomed to her satisfaction, and her feathers were glossy and smooth and soft to the touch.
