Dragon Rider Play

Jeremiah smiled as he followed the dragons to the medical wing. Nightshade chased after Erika, chirping. "I don't mind. It's just... I've never really had anyone care for me the way he does with seemingly no effort."

"He really does love you," Pat agreed.  "It's amazing to see you two together.  And then I go and almost get him killed."  She dropped her gaze, cheeks flushing with humility.

Erika spotted a large stone and climbed up, curling on top.  She had just gotten settled when the stone moved and the Boulder Dragon gave her an annoyed look.

Jeremiah smiled. "That right there? That blush? One of the quirks I was telling you about earlier. Even shy guys usually take more to blush than that."

Nightshade chirped an apology for her friend. Sorry! Hey, Erika! There a nice flat stont in the sun over here!

"I'm not blushing.  I'm ashamed," Pat muttered miserably.  "I should have... Done everything so different."

Erika churred in apology as she scampered off and tried out the flat stone while the Boulder Dragon wandered off grumbling.

"Hey, don't be so hard on yourself." Jeremiah said as he stretched. "Hindsight is always perfect. The only right thing to do now is learn from it so you can make it right the next time it happens."

Nightshade scrambled onto it first. There was plenty of room for them to spread out and share.

Pat nodded, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.  "There had better not be a next time.  Not for any ya'll.  Got it?"

Jeremiah just grinned. "No promises, but that's a step in the right direction."

Pat nodded and reached over to open the door to the medical ward.  "After you."

Jeremiah nodded. "Thanks. Needle? 53?" He called out once inside.

Needle padded forward, touching Pat's hand with a purr before turning to look Jeremiah.  After so much time in the ward, Needle and Pat had become friends. 
"Hi, Needle," Pat smiled.

Tithenor was drifting, not fully asleep, but not awake, either.

"Hey, Needle, can we check up on Tithenor before we go to bed, or would 53 be okay with me staying here for the night with him?"

The dragon flicked his tail once.  
"That means your first question is a yes," Pat explained, starting forward.
Needle churred and parted forward toward Tithenor's room.

Jeremiah went back. He quietly stepped closer to Tithenor's bed.

Tithenor stirred, mumbling faintly.  "Honeg?"

Jeremiah smiled. "/I am here, brother./"

Tithenor squinted at his brother.  "/Hello, Jeremiah.  Your hair is wet./"  Why was that important?  No idea, but it was.

Pat sat back, smiling at the pair.

Jeremiah smiled. "/Figured I would get clean and pretty just for you./"

"/I appreciate your care,/" Tithenor smiled.  "/You look good for your date tonight./"

Jeremiah laughed. he tried to hide the slight nervousness about it. "/Anyway, how are you feeling? Any better?/"

"What did he say?" Pat asked curiously.

"/Better,/" Tithenor agreed.

"He says he's feeling better." Jeremiah said, dropping to English. He would tell Pat the rest on the way back to the bunkhouse.

"Okay," Pat agreed, smiling to herself.

"/Melloraumo is a soft, sweet dragon,/" Tithenor informed Jeremiah.

Jeremiah smiled. "/I'm sure he is. We just wanted to make sure you were okay before we went to bed. I'll let you rest now, brother. I'll visit you in the morning with breakfast./" He promised.

"Good morning," Tithenor told them, dropping back to sleep.

"Apparently elves take to that stuff more than humans," Pat giggled.

Jeremiah smiled. "Let's let him sleep." He said as he stood to do just that.
