Dragon Rider Play

Anterrion spoke, his voice sounding like silk. "I am your fighting instructor. You may call me Anterrion or Angelo. If you try and show a desire to learn, I shall teach. If you do not, then you should not be here."

Forrest went last. He had his hand on his dragon as he spoke. "I am Forrest Blackwaters. You shall refer to me only as Professor Blackwaters unless I tell you specifically otherwise. I shall teach you wilderness survival, and will also teach you down the road how to communicate with your dragon to work as a unit in the wild. I will teach at a fast pace, and will not stop if you cannot keep up." He spotted the elf in the crowed, and set high expectations for the elf in his class.

This was going to be interesting, Tithenor thought, and more educational that he'd originally expected.

Pat shrank down, intimidated by the power in the room.

The headmaster waited until everyone had had their say then spoke. "Your teachers will not tolerate any tomfoolery. Nor will I. It does not matter if you are the greatest or the worst, what matters here is your willingness to Try. Do your best, and that is all we will ask of anyone here. Each of you have talents, and we will help you find them and use them correctly." Did his eyes linger on Blade? Maybe. "You may return to your supper. Tonight, you meet your dragons. Rest, play, explore, and we will come for you when it is time."
With that, he swept out of the room, gathering his teachers to follow. Violet, on the other hand, got left behind to answer questions.

(Idea: What if Pat's dragon winds up needing Pat there to hatch? Like Pat needs to help the newborn or else the dragon would die? Just to add to the unusualness of it)

Blade shrugged it off pretty well immediately. If he got in trouble, he would. It was practically his name even.

Mark nodded. "This will be interesting..." He mused aloud.

(Freeking phone!! It keeps trying to redirect to some stupid add!! As for the idea, uh, they are All supposed to be there when their dragons hatch. that's why we're getting Blade knew clothes.)
"Indeed," Tithenor murmured in agreement.

Violet was moving through the ranks, chosing random people. Or at least it seemed random.
"I think Miss Violet is pointing at you," Pat murmured to Blade.

(Lol it's okay XD my phone hates me too. And that's fine. I just didn't know what you had planned was all)

Blade turned around and looked at Violet. "What?!" He asked from across the room.

Mark watched Violet and Blade, curious now what was going on.

Blade frowned and walked over to her. "What?"

"Your clothing is unsuitible for the hatching ceremony. Come with me, I am taking a group to the tailor's to get fitted with new clothes," she said shortly. "This is not an act of charity. As long as you live and work here, You are an ambassedor for this school. Come." She turned and walked

Blade frowned and stayed put. "Uh, how about you just let me tell you what will fit me and call that good. I'm not going to have some old fart groping me and making me uncomfortable."

Violet paused and glanced back at him. "Because you do not have a choice. The tailor is not an old fart, and no decent tailor would need to group or even touch you to get a good fit. Now come. Or I shall take another blade."

Blade dragged his feet some but followed. He looked like a kicked puppy, and didn't want to enjoy it one bit. "What's wrong with the clothes I have on now?" He grumbled.

"They are clean, but threadbare, and of poor quality," she said simply, snapping her fingers sharply at a pair of boys that started shoving each other. "Enough."

Blade's frown deepened. "So me having lived on the streets and having to make do with what I could get ahold of isn't good enough for you higher class people?" He challenged.

"You are just looking for a fight, aren't you?" Violet said frostily as she kept walking. "There is no higher class here. There are Riders. You are a Rider, no longer whatever you were, be it a street rat or the king's son. And yes, we have had royalty become riders, and by the end of their training, you couldn't pick them out of the line."

Blade frowned and followed. He wouldn't argue it anymore. Blade had decided he did not like the authority here one bit. Namely Violet and Grumbledorf.

"You do not have to like it. Just do it," Violet said simply as she directed the mob to form a line. She put Blade at the end of the line, telling the others to go in one at a time.

Blade, bored once again, played with a couple of his knives. He took a couple extra steps back and practiced some knife tricks to pass the time.

The line moved slow. One by one the trainees went in then came out some time later. Finally, it was Blade's turn to go in. "Next!" yelled a voice from within.

Blade sheathed his knives and walked in. He was still determined to be unhappy about the whole endeavor.

The tailor looked up tiredly. "Hello. How badly do you not want to be here?" He was a wiry, middle aged man who looked younger than his years let on.

Blade didn't answer. He preferred to stand in the doorway. he debated on playing with a knife again, but instead tapped his leg as a fidget.

"That badly?" the tailor said dryly. "Well then, kid, the sooner you come over here and stand on ths little stool, the sooner you can get out of here, and I can get to work sewing 35 suits before midnight tonight. Let me guess, you've got a touching issue? I don't touch."

Blade still seemed stubborn to not cooperate. He had decided already that he wasn't going to wear the suit.

The tailor sighed and stood, wincing as joints cracked. "Look, this suit is a one-time thing. You dress up to show off. It's a grand affair, a party, really. You can sell the suit later, turn it into rags, save it, or give it to your dragon for bedding. Is it really that bad for one night? Not even that, a couple of hours for one night."
