DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

[Dark Silence]

Layla sat down beside him. "Kind of bittersweet. Like, you know how you wanted it to end, but you also know that it was never really going to happen anyway. I liked it though."

[SilentVoice]

"That's good?" Lex half asked.  "Glad you liked it."

[Dark Silence]

Layla smiled and nodded. "It is, but now what to read is the question."

[SilentVoice]

Lex shrugged.  "What are you in the mood for?"

[Dark Silence]

Layla thought for several moments. "Maybe... a romance?" She said softly.

[SilentVoice]

"I wouldn't know where to start there," Lex snorted.  "True might, or Kat."

[Dark Silence]

Layla laughed. "Well, what would you recommend, romance or not?" She asked with a smile.

[SilentVoice]

"I'm not you.  How would I know what you'd want?" Lex asked, frowning in confusion.  "I'd say not, but that's me."

[Dark Silence]

Layla's smile faded a little. "Fair enough." She said. "I just.... never mind."

[SilentVoice]

Lex felt like he'd done something wrong, but he had no idea what.  Giving up, he stood and headed downstairs. He had other stuff to do.

[Dark Silence]

Layla bit her lip as she watched Lex go, unsure whether or not to follow him, or if he needed space. She still wanted to be near him, but what if she just said something that unintentionally set him off? She felt kind of bad now.

[SilentVoice]

Hugs jumped into Layla's lap and settled in, purring.

Lex kept to himself for the rest of the evening, only joining the rest of the family for dinner.  True did his exercises for as long as he could before taking a break.  He got the painting started on Sam's robot, finishing the outlining just as Shuni called them in for dinner. As soon as True ate, he went back to painting.  Shuni was happy, playing with the cats and making dinner then cleaning up.  He actually rather liked cleaning up after dinner.  It was rather rewarding.

[Dark Silence]

Layla was pretty quite for most of the rest of the day, just cuddling Hugs and keeping to herself during dinner. Once she was done eating, she scurried upstairs without meeting anyone's eyes.

Kat of course had encouraged and helped True where she could. She was proud of him, but felt a little bad for Layla. With a soft word to True that she was going to talk to the other girl, she followed Layla.

True nodded, watching her go curiously before going back to his painting.

Lex took refuge on the roof, reclining and watching the sun set.

[Dark Silence]

Sam and Paul offered to help True paint. Treble tried to help too, but Paul spent more time trying to keep the kitten out of the paint than anything.

Layla and Kat talked for quite a while, actually. Layla enjoyed talking to the other girl, and was grateful for her advice and consoling.

[SilentVoice]

"Alright, fellow artists and kittens, time to clean up and head for bed!" True told them cheerfully, wiping off Treble's paws.  "This has to dry overnight before we can finish."

[Dark Silence]

Sam and Paul nodded. Paul seemed sad, but didn't protest as he went to change and brush his teeth for bed. Treble purred as she rubbed against True and licked his hands as he wiped off her paws.

[SilentVoice]

"Yeah, yeah, I love you too, you silly kitty," True snickered, scratching her ears then rolled into the main house to get ready for bed himself.

[Dark Silence]

Kat joined True after a bit. "How's the bot coming along?" She asked as she gathered her night clothes from a backpack.

[SilentVoice]

"It's coming along great!" True grinned, scooting over to make sure she had plenty of room.

[Dark Silence]

Kat smiled and thanked him. "That's great! I can't wait to see it when it's done!" She excused herself and stepped into the hallway bathroom to change before returning to True's room.

[SilentVoice]

True smiled at her tenderly.  "Thank you, Kat, for being here with me.  For me."

[Dark Silence]

Kat smiled and kissed True's cheek. "Why wouldn't I be? You're one of the best guys I know, inside and out."

[SilentVoice]

True just smiled and wrapped his arms around her, snuggling in.  "I love you, Katrina."

[Dark Silence]

She smiled and happily snuggled back. "I love you too, True."

Layla just sat on the couch and pet Hugs, lost in thought.
